‎Munya Ndawana is an author, illustrator and songwriter.

‎

‎

‎Munya Ndawana was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He fell in love with art and literature from a very young age. Images, words and phrases spoke to him in the most beautiful way. From an early age he could easily recite his favourite poems by heart. As a little boy he began teaching himself how to draw by imitating drawings from his favourite books and cartoon characters he watched on television.

‎He went on to study art and english literature.

‎

‎In his late teens, he was appointed the youngest editor ever of his church's weekly newsletter. A position he faithfully held for close to a decade.

‎

‎He had dreams of becoming an author someday, dreams he had to set aside whilst he pursued a career in the world of business.

‎To date he has authored numerous insightful articles on marriage and christianity.

‎

‎And being a father, to a 3 year old son and a year old daughter reawakened his dreams of becoming an author. The constant need and demand for made up stories from the little ones reignited his love and passion for writing books.

‎

‎He wrote and illustrated his debut book, A One In A Million Chameleon

(Moon High Publishing)

     in 2026. The idea came about one fine afternoon. After his 3 year old son asked him endless questions about a chameleon after they had spotted one in their own backyard at home.

‎The book has been receiving positive reviews and he is currently working on his follow up book.

‎

‎Munya Ndawana is also a strong advocate for tree planting. In the near future he says he plans to launch a programme that gives marginalised communities in Africa access to books. He believes books have the power to open minds.
